Meriem Ben Ali

Meriem Ben Ali is staff member of the Research Laboratory of Transmission, Control and Immunobiology of Infections (LR11IPT02) at Institut Pasteur de Tunis (IPT). After obtaining her PhD in Immunology and Molecular Biology, she held a postdoctoral position at Institute Pasteur, Paris, France. She joined the LR11IPT02, headed by Pr. Mohamed Ridha Barbouche, as Assistant Professor in 2011 and is currently Associate Professor. Meriem focused her research interests on the immunological and genetic investigation of Primary Immunodeficiencies (PIDs) in the highly consanguineous Tunisian population. In this particular context, she has identified founder mutations in PID patients which facilitate the development of preventive approaches through genetic counseling and prenatal diagnosis. She also contributed to identification of novel genes as well as novel autosomal recessive forms of PIDs. Meriem did publish 18 papers in peer-reviewed journals.
